This site was built to be used by everyone.
Multi-generational travel means elders, and elders are exactly the people most often failed by a website. This page says what standard we built to, what we checked, and what we know is still imperfect.
The standard we built to
This site was built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the standard most commonly referenced in law and procurement. It was assessed in September 2026.
What that meant in practice
- Contrast. Every piece of text on the site was measured against the colour actually behind it, rather than assumed. All of it meets or exceeds the AA threshold.
- Keyboard. The whole site can be operated without a mouse. Menus, the photograph viewer, the album panels and both forms all work from the keyboard, and the focus outline is always visible.
- Skip link. Eight navigation items sit above the content on every page, so a keyboard user can jump straight past them.
- Forms. Every field on both forms has a properly associated label. There are no unlabelled controls.
- Images. Every photograph carries alternative text describing what it shows, not a filename.
- Motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, the animations, the drifting hero image and the auto-playing video all switch off, and the video is not even downloaded.
- Video. The one clip with speech carries captions.
- Structure. Headings run in order and the page is marked up so a screen reader can navigate by landmark.
Known limitations
We would rather name these than let you find them.
- The captions on the partner video were produced from an automated transcription and lightly corrected. They are accurate but not verbatim.
- That video is also low resolution, because of how the footage reached us. It will be replaced when we have the original.
- Photographs carry short alternative text. A few of the ceremonial images carry detail that a longer description would serve better, and we intend to add that.
- The site has not yet been tested by people using screen readers in their daily lives. Automated and manual checks are not the same thing as that, and we would like to close the gap.

If you have an access requirement for a trip itself, mobility, hearing, vision, stamina or anything else, put it in the inquiry form or raise it on the first call. It changes how a trip is designed, and it is much easier to build in from the start than to add later.
